Collision Repair in Van Nuys, CA

Capital Collision Center repairs collision damage at our Van Nuys shop. Here is what that covers, how to start with a free estimate, and where an insurance claim can fit in.

What collision repair covers at our Van Nuys shop

Collision repair is the work of putting a vehicle's body back in shape after an impact. At our shop on Bessemer St in Van Nuys, a part of Los Angeles, that means dent removal and color-matched paint and body work on visible collision damage. The day-to-day body work is described on our auto body repair page, and the finish side on our auto body paint page.

No two collisions look the same. Our case studies show a few examples: rear-area damage on a Nissan Rogue, front fender damage on a VW Tiguan, and front bumper damage on a Porsche Macan. What your vehicle needs depends on its damage, which is why we start with an estimate.

Repair Timing

Timing depends on damage and parts availability.

What an estimate can and cannot tell you

An estimate from photos or a quick look shows what is visible. Hidden damage, parts availability and the final scope can all change what a repair involves, and none of that can be known from a description alone. Nothing on this page is a quote, a repair promise or a completion date.

If you are worried an impact did more than damage the surface, say so when you ask for an estimate. Our frame repair page explains what to report and how to ask for an inspection. We do not diagnose structural damage from a distance.

Helpful details to include when you reach out:

  • Where the vehicle was hit and which panels or areas look damaged.
  • Whether there are dents, scraped or cracked paint, or both.
  • Anything that looks or feels different since the impact, such as a door or panel that no longer lines up.
  • Your vehicle's year, make and model, and whether you plan to use insurance or pay out of pocket.

How a collision repair gets started

This is the order we suggest for a first conversation. It describes how to begin, not a fixed repair schedule.

  1. Describe the damage

Tell us what happened and where on the vehicle. A short description, and photos if you have them, is enough to begin.
  2. Request an estimate

Use the estimate form or call (818) 472-9222. Estimates are free, in person or from photos. The form asks for your name, phone, vehicle and payment choice and has no photo upload, so ask us how to send photos. Our estimates page covers what to prepare.
  3. Discuss scope and payment

Choose insurance claim or out of pocket on the form. Then ask what the estimate covers: dent and body work, paint, and any structural questions you raised.
  4. Talk through next steps and timing

Timing depends on damage and parts availability, so we do not promise a date before the damage is known. Ask what is still unknown and what would change the plan.

Where an insurance claim fits

If you are filing a claim, a free estimate is something you can share with your insurer. We help customers navigate insurance claims alongside the repair. You can read the details on our insurance claim assistance page.

Claim assistance is not a guarantee of approval, and it does not mean we have a direct relationship with any particular carrier. Whether a claim is covered is up to your insurance company.

Collision repair questions

Can you tell what my car needs from photos?

Photos are a good way to start, and estimates are free from photos. They only show visible damage, though, so the final scope can change once the vehicle is looked at in person. The form has no photo upload, so ask us how to send them.

Do you help with insurance claims?

Yes. We help customers navigate insurance claims as part of the repair process. This is claim assistance, not a guarantee of approval or a direct relationship with every carrier. Choose "Insurance claim" on the estimate form.

How long will my collision repair take?

Timing depends on the damage and parts availability, so we do not give a number before the damage is known. Ask about timing when you get your estimate, and about anything that could change it.

What is the difference between collision repair and auto body repair?

The two overlap. Collision repair is repair of damage from an impact. Auto body repair is the broader body work on panels, such as dents and paint, whether or not a collision caused it.

What should I do if I think there is structural damage?

Mention it when you ask for an estimate and describe what you noticed. Our frame repair page lists what to report. We cannot confirm structural damage from a description or photos.
