Auto Body Paint in Van Nuys, CA

Color-matched paint and body work at our Van Nuys shop, as part of collision and body repair. Learn how paint fits into a repair and how to ask for an estimate.

Color-matched paint and body work

Paint is the visible end of a repair. When a panel has been damaged, the finish over it is affected as well, so paint is often part of a collision repair. We color-match paint and body work as part of the repair at our Van Nuys shop.

This page is about the finish: scratches, scuffs, chipped or cracked paint, and the paint that follows body work. It is not a description of a specific paint process, and we do not promise a particular result before the vehicle has been looked at.

Paint damage and body damage together

A scuffed bumper and a creased door are different problems, but both end with the finish. Where a panel is dented, the dent and the paint are best discussed in one estimate. Our auto body repair page goes into dents and panels.

If doors or panels also seem out of line after an impact, mention it when you ask for an estimate and see our frame repair page for what to report. Useful things to note:

  • Which panels have paint damage, such as a bumper, fender, door or hood.
  • Whether the paint is scratched, scuffed, chipped or cracked.
  • Whether the panel is also dented or pushed in.
  • Whether the paint around the damage looks worn or faded, which can matter for the color discussion.
  • The color of the vehicle, and the year, make and model.

How a paint estimate gets started

This is a suggested order for the first conversation, not a fixed repair schedule.

  1. Identify the affected finish

Note each panel with paint damage. Photos taken in daylight, from a few steps back and up close, make the conversation easier.
  2. Request an estimate

Use the estimate form or call (818) 472-9222. Estimates are free, in person or from photos. The form has no photo upload, so ask us how to send pictures.
  3. Discuss body work and paint scope

Ask which panels need body work before paint, which need paint only, and how color matching will be handled on your vehicle. You will also say whether this is an insurance claim or out of pocket.
  4. Discuss next steps

Ask what happens next and what could change the plan. Timing depends on the damage and parts availability, so we do not promise dates up front. Our estimates page lists what to have ready.

Paint repair and insurance claims

If the damage is part of an insurance claim, a free estimate is something you can share with your insurer, and we help customers navigate insurance claims alongside the repair. See our insurance claim assistance page.

Claim assistance is not a guarantee of approval or a direct relationship with every carrier. Whether a claim covers paint work is up to your insurance company. For smaller marks you may prefer to pay yourself, and the estimate form lets you say which applies.

Auto body paint questions

How are paint and body work related?

When a panel is damaged, the finish on it is affected too, so the two are usually discussed together. A dent with cracked paint involves both. Our auto body repair page covers the body side, and the estimate shows how the two fit together on your vehicle.

Will the new paint match my car?

We color-match paint as part of the repair, but we do not promise a perfect match. How closely the finish will blend can depend on the vehicle and the condition of the surrounding paint, so ask about it when you get your estimate.

Can I send photos of the paint damage?

Yes, estimates are free in person or from photos. The estimate form has no photo upload, so ask us how to send them. Photos and screens do not always show color accurately, and the scope may change after an in-person look.

What decides how much paint work my vehicle needs?

The damage does, along with whatever body work comes first. We do not name a scope or a time before the damage has been looked at. Timing depends on the damage and parts availability, so ask about it when you get your estimate.

What if I only have a scratch or scuff?

Tell us, and send a photo or come in. The estimate can tell you whether the mark is only in the finish or whether the panel underneath is affected too.

Ask for a paint and body estimate

Tell us which panels are affected and what the paint looks like. Estimates are free, in person or from photos.
